What kind of results do people typically experience?

Many clients experience significant improvements in pain, mobility, and confidence. Some notice changes within days or weeks; others progress more gradually as their nervous system settles into a new sense of safety.

Every nervous system learns and unlearns at its own pace, but the vast majority of clients see meaningful, lasting change when they fully engage with the process.

The persistence of chronic pain is often rooted in the brain’s threat response, as explained by the National Institutes of Health.

What if I’ve already tried everything?

Most people who come to me have tried everything — medications, physical therapy, injections, acupuncture, chiropractic care, even surgery.

Pain Reprocessing Therapy takes a different approach. Rather than treating structural “findings” that research shows are common in people without pain, it focuses on retraining the brain and calming a hyper-alert nervous system. For many clients, this is the missing piece that finally helps things shift.

Pain Reprocessing Therapy has been described in a Dartmouth overview of the trial, which outlines how changes in brain interpretation can reduce chronic back pain.

What if my pain is from an old injury or a known diagnosis?

Even when pain begins with an injury, illness, or physical condition, it can become reinforced by the brain over time. This is called central sensitization — and it’s well documented in neuroscience. Learn more about central sensitization and the science of chronic pain.

Once tissues have healed, ongoing pain often reflects a protective habit in the nervous system rather than continuing damage. My individual and small group programs help you retrain those pain circuits so your body can move out of protection mode and into recovery.

Do I need to stop other treatments?

No. You can continue any non-invasive treatment you and your doctor feel is helpful. Many clients integrate PRT alongside physical therapy, massage, or gentle movement practices.

You do not need to change your medical team to begin this work.

Is this “all in my head”?

Not at all. Chronic pain generated by the brain is 100% real pain — but its source is different. Learn more about the Science of chronic pain.

Think of phantom limb pain: the sensation is intense and physical, even though the source is in the nervous system. Pain Reprocessing Therapy helps retrain these neural pathways so your body can shift out of protection and into healing.

Do you work with children and teens?

Yes. I work with children (generally age 10+) and teens who experience persistent pain or other chronic symptoms. Sessions with younger clients always include parents, and the process is collaborative, supportive, and tailored to the child’s developmental stage.

Kids and teens often respond quickly because their neural pathways are highly adaptable. If you have other questions about my work with children and teens, please schedule a consultation.

What happens if I have a setback?

Setbacks are a normal part of recovery. The nervous system is learning new patterns, and sometimes it slips back into old habits — especially during stress or transition.

In the program, you’ll learn exactly how to interpret and respond to setbacks so they become evidence of progress rather than failure. Most clients find their confidence increases once they understand why setbacks happen and how to move through them.

How long does the program take?

Most individual clients work with me for 5–10 sessions, while small-group clients follow a structured multi-week curriculum. Your timeline depends on your symptoms, your nervous system, and how much you practice between sessions.

Do you offer consultations before joining?

Yes. You can schedule a 40-minute initial consultation to discuss your symptoms, understand how Pain Reprocessing Therapy works, and determine whether the program is the right fit for you.
